Body
WHEREAS, Mo. Rev. Stat. ?67.990 et seq., authorize the County to levy and collect a countywide ad valorem property tax, not to exceed five cents per each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation, for the purpose of providing services to persons sixty years of age or older; and,

WHEREAS, if authorized by the qualified voters of the County at the general election to be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the proceeds of the tax would be deposited in a special "Senior Citizens' Services Fund," established within the County treasury, and administrated and managed by a seven-member board of directors appointed by the County's governing body, which shall represent, as nearly as practicable, the various groups to be served by the board, and in accordance with a budget approved by the County's governing body; and,


WHEREAS, monies in the Senior Citizens' Services Fund would be available to provide programs which will improve the health, nutrition, and quality of life of persons who are sixty years of age or older, and could be allocated for operational and capital needs to senior-related programs in the County; and,

WHEREAS, the submission of a question to the voters to authorize this tax is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
