Body
WHEREAS, Melesa Nicole Johnson, a Kansas City, Missouri resident and senior at Bishop Miege High School, will graduate in May 2007 and has currently earned a grade point average of 3.95; and,

WHEREAS, Melesa's academic achievements include membership in National Honor Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students, Bishop Miege Academic Excellence Award, Bishop Miege First Honors, National Youth Leadership Conference nominee, and National Dean's List nominee; and,

WHEREAS, Melesa's athletic achievements include the Kansas State Champion title in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles - 2005 and 2006, Triple Jump - 2006, 1600 relay - 2004, 400 relay - 2005, AAU National Jr. Olympic Qualifier and All American 100 meter hurdles - 2005, Kansas City Star and Johnson County Sun All Metro, and Johnson County Sun Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year - 2006; and,

WHEREAS, Melesa is a member of the Bishop Miege Lady Stag Dance Team, the Bishop Miege Multi Ethnic Educational Team, Palestine Prowlers Track Team, Gregg Klice Community Center youth worker, and an active participant in Sunday school, youth choir, and youth mission at the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church; and,

WHEREAS, Melesa also lends her time, talent, and leadership skills to the Generation Rap Teen Radio Talk Show as a co-host, producer, and crew member, the Palestine Track Club as a student coach and administrator, Children's Mercy Hospital as a youth helper and arts assistant, Palestine Freedom School as a volunteer reader, Little Miss AKA Alpha Kappa Alpha as a volunteer assistant and topic presenter, and St. James United Methodist Church as a children's carnival worker; now therefore,...
