Body
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit R-7 School District is one of only five school districts out of over 500 districts in Missouri that was recognized for its professional development program; and,

WHEREAS, this year's Commissioner's Award focused on two areas of professional development: the district's literacy plan and support for teachers with their use of instructional technology; and,

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District emphasizes positive change and improvement in student learning through meaningful, high quality, effective professional development that must meet the needs of each teacher, be long term, and allow for follow-up evaluation and collaboration; and,

WHEREAS, by earning the Commissioner's Award for High Quality Professional Development, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District will receive $2,500.00, as well as funding for the select school staff to attend the Show Me Professional Development Conference; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Flack, the director of professional development for the R-7 School District, stated that the entire professional development staff should be praised for their efforts; and,

WHEREAS, the R-7 School District was recognized by Kent King, the Missouri Commissioner of Education, at an awards luncheon on March 17th at the Show Me Conference; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Flack, Mary Jo LeCluyse, Pleasant Lea Elementary teacher and co-chair of the Professional Development Committee, Barb Green, Pleasant Lea Middle School teacher and co-chair of the Professional Development Committee, and Dr. Amy Gates, assistant director of professional development, were featured presenters at...
