Body
WHEREAS, Sam Hibbard served as the first cub scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 264 in 1949; and,
WHEREAS, Sam has remained active with the troop during its 50 years in existence; and,
WHEREAS, the troop's success can be attributed to its outstanding leaders, the great efforts of the boys, and the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church, of which Sam is a member and which sponsors the troop; and,
WHEREAS, one of Sam's first cub scouts was Bob Dunning, now also celebrating 50 years with Cub Scout Troop 264; and,
WHEREAS, scouting has been a family event as Sam's wife, Jeanne, served as one of the the first den mothers for the troop, one of their sons earned Eagle status, and the other son earned Life status; and,
WHEREAS, sincere gratitude and appreciation go out to Sam Hibbard for the countless hours of time he has spent enriching the lives of these young men, for the positive leadership he has provided in shaping them into responsible individuals, and for upholding the scouting foundation of good morals and solid values through setting a good example and teaching responsibility, while having fun and maintaining a good attitude; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Sam Hibbard upon his 50 years with Boy Scout Troop 264, and for the positive influence he has made on the lives of many young men.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
