WHEREAS, the Jackson County Legislature is saddened by the passing of Donald J. Hall, a beloved member of the Kansas City community, who passed away on October 13, 2024, at the age of 96; and,
WHEREAS, Donald J. Hall was a prominent business leader and philanthropist whose contributions have profoundly impacted Kansas City, enriching the lives of countless individuals and families throughout the community; and,
WHEREAS, as the former Chairman and CEO of Hallmark Cards, Donald J. Hall was instrumental in growing the company, continuing the legacy of his father, J.C. Hall, and creating a legacy of excellence and compassion that defined his leadership; and,
WHEREAS, beyond his success in business, Donald J. Hall was known for his commitment to philanthropy, generously supporting numerous causes and organizations that have shaped Kansas City's cultural, educational, and civic landscape, including the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Children's Mercy Hospital, and many other institutions dedicated to the arts, healthcare, and education; and,
WHEREAS, Donald J. Hall's vision and generosity have left a lasting legacy that has inspired others in Kansas City to contribute to the betterment of their community and has set a high standard for civic engagement and service; and,
WHEREAS, his contributions to the city extend beyond financial support, as he continuously championed the values of creativity, kindness, and community through his work and philanthropy; and
