RESOLUTION # 11771, June 2, 1997

INTRODUCED BY John C. Graham and Fred Arbanas, County Legislators

Body
WHEREAS, Aldo Leker was first hired by Longview Community College in 1971 as an instructor in the business department; and,

WHEREAS, after being promoted to the college's acting associate dean of instruction and acting dean of business, he was named acting president in 1979 and one year later became president; and,

WHEREAS, through the outstanding and distinguished leadership of Mr. Leker, the college has initiated programs such as PACE (Program for Adult College Education), ABLE (Academic Bridge to Learning Effectiveness), a training program which evolved into a business technology center located in Kansas City, and CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement); and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Leker was successful at his profession because he not only had the gifts of an exceedingly keen mind, a pleasant and unassuming personality, and true compassion for people, he was also dedicated to the task of working with all available resources for the purpose of maximizing the quality, quantity, and efficiency of the educational system and services provided by Longview Community College; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Leker attributes much of the success of the college to the faculty and staff, as well as community support; and,

WHEREAS, upon retirement Mr. Leker plans to relax and spend a lot of time with his wife, Donna, and daughter, Natasha, and hopes to visit his mother in Puerto Rico; and,

WHEREAS, admiration, respect, warm friendship, and heartfelt appreciation for his many years of dedicated service will go with Mr. Leker as he enters a new era in his life; now therefore,
