Body
WHEREAS, Bill McDonald has had a long and distinguished commitment to serving the people of Independence, Missouri, spanning the past twenty years; and,
WHEREAS, he began his service to his community on the Independence Planning Commission in 1979, where he served until 1990; and,
WHEREAS, Bill has served as Independence City Councilman at Large from 1990 until 2002, elected three times by the voters of the City of Independence; and,
WHEREAS, on the Independence City Council, Councilman McDonald served on the Audit and Finance Committee, Resource Recovery Committee, ICED and the Transportation Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Bill McDonald also served on the Mid America Regional Council where he was a tireless advocate of the Little Blue Expressway, understanding from the beginning the vital importance of this project to the City of Independence and all the people of Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, Bill has served on numerous church and civic organizations in particular the Special Olympics; and,
WHEREAS, his commitment and dedication to his community stands as an example to all citizens; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Bill McDonald on his years of dedicated service to the people of Jackson County, Missouri.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
