Body
WHEREAS, chapter 93 of the County Code authorizes the County to award contracts for services for the purpose of providing substance abuse treatment, prevention, and other anti-drug and anti-violence initiatives in the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Family Court Night Light Program is designed to address serious and potentially violent juvenile offenders who are either under pre-adjudication supervision, on probation, or re-entering the community from residential placement; and,
WHEREAS, the Family Court's Night Light Program's goals are to hold youth accountable for their actions, reduce delinquent behavior, encourage sound social decision-making behavior, and reduce illegal substance abuse; and,
WHEREAS, COMBAT funding of this program provides critical afterhours monitoring conducted by the juvenile probation officer and a member of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office that supports the prevention programming offered by the Family Court; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Family Court Night Light program has been shown to be effective in reducing recidivism; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer within the Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund is necessary to place the required funds in the proper spending account; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer be made within the 2019 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund:
