WHEREAS, it the request of the Legislature that the Board of Equalization (BOE) accelerate their hearing timeline to finish assessment appeal hearings before tax notices are sent out to Jackson County citizens; and,
WHEREAS, having the hearings completed before tax notices are sent out will give citizens an opportunity to seek possible tax relief,
WHEREAS, not having the BOE hearings complete before new tax notices are sent out will subject the citizens of Jackson County to the property value assessments generated in the 2023 assessment cycle; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature does hereby express its intent to recommend that the BOE hearings be completed before new tax notices are taken in account.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
