Body
WHEREAS, in connection with the Jackson County Detention Center expansion, the Purchasing Director has solicited formal written bids on Bid No. PW-2345 (Bid Package No. 2) for the drilled Caisson construction for the Jackson County Detention Center alterations/addition; and,

WHEREAS, he has received as the lowest two bids thereon bids from the following:
VENDOR BID
Hayes Drilling, Inc. $263,000.00
Kansas City (Jackson County), MO

Merillat, Inc. $466,570.00
d/b/a Midwest Foundations Co.
Topeka, KS

and,


WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director has recommended that award be made to Hayes Drilling, Inc., of Kansas City, MO, for the reason that it has submitted the lowest and best bid; and,

WHEREAS, in the event that change orders to the contract become necessary, due to the time constraints involved in completing the demolition, it is appropriate that the County Executive be given authority to approve additional expenditures under this contract not to exceed $13,000.00, which is less than 5% of the contract amount; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
