Body
WHEREAS, each year the City of Raytown presents the Citizen of the Year Award to an individual who is actively involved in community service; and,
WHEREAS, the recipient of this award for 1999 is Judith L. Ness, Director-Public Affairs for Missouri Public Service, and a member of the Executive Staff; and,
WHEREAS, Judy has been treasurer of the Raytown Rotary Club and served on its board of directors, board member and chairwoman of the Hope House, board chairwoman of the Jackson County United Way, and vice chairwoman of the Raytown Planning and Zoning Commission; and,
WHEREAS, Judy is responsible for Caring for Kids, a charitable corporation formed through Missouri Public Service employee volunteers and contributions, which assists needy families and fulfills children's wishes at Christmas; and,
WHEREAS, Judy is also responsible for distributing the proceeds of the company's annual charitable contribution program, and is coordinator for fund-raising opportunities for employees; and,
WHEREAS, Judy is currently serving her third term on the Raytown Chamber of Commerce board, and has served as treasurer and is currently its secretary; and,
WHEREAS, Judy received her Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University and her Master of Arts degree from the University of Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, Judy and her husband, John, have lived in the Raytown area for twenty-two years; and,
WHEREAS, Judy is to be commended for volunteering countless hours to community service; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Judith L. Ness upon her receipt of the Raytown Citizen of the Year Award...Attorney
