Body
WHEREAS, the voters of the County approved imposition of a sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the County did, by Resolution #12663, dated April 19, 1999, enter into a contract with the Salvation Army, to provide housing for Drug Court referrals who are homeless, for the Prosecuting Attorney's Deferred Prosecution and Drug Court Programs; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney now recommends an increase and extension to the contract with the Salvation Army through and including March 31, 2002, upon the terms and conditions of the First Addendum attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, the proposed increase and extension to this contract is necessary to provide housing for 8 individual Drug Court referrals per month at a cost of $15.00 per day, and this increase will not exceed $5,000.00; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be, and hereby is, authorized to execute the attached First Addendum to the Agreement with the Salvation Army; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be, and hereby is, authorized to make all payments, including final payments on the Agreement and the First Addendum thereto.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
