Body
WHEREAS, the ninth annual Family Week, sponsored by the communities of eastern Jackson County, was held April 22-28, 2007, with a theme of "Putting Families First"; and,
WHEREAS, Ben and Katie Stowe of Grain Valley, MO, along with their children, Austin, Connor, Alexcis, and Tyler, were chosen from 22 nominated families from the communities of Blue Springs, Independence, Lee's Summit, Grain Valley, and Oak Grove, as the 2007 Family of the Year; and,
WHEREAS, the Family of the Year honor is given to the family that best exemplifies a strong commitment to spending time together as a family; and,
WHEREAS, the organizer and founder of Family Week, Diane Mack, described the Stowe family as role models in family interaction with high levels of respect for each other and those around them; and,
WHEREAS, the Stowe family enjoys weekly family gatherings to discuss weekly plans, address issues, and share uplifting thoughts through scripture and prayer; and,
WHEREAS, the Stowe family also enjoys spending time together at the lake and traveling to see extended family in Vermont and Utah; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Stowe family as the recipients of the Family of the Year award, sponsored by the communities of eastern Jackson County, and recognizes their immeasurable commitment to positive family values.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
