AN ORDINANCE appropriating $54,452.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2019 Health Fund in acceptance of funds received from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for the Opioid and Violent Death tracking program and Opioid Surveillance Toxicology testing, and the Missouri Department of Social Services for forensic autopsy services, to be applied to various expenses within the Medical Examiner's Office.

Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 19879, dated June 4, 2018, the Legislature did authorize a renewal to the agreement with the Missouri Department of Social Services relating to autopsy services; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 19962, dated August 20, 2018, the Legislature did authorize an amendment to the program services agreement with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Citizens relating to the Opioid and Violent Death tracking program; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 19964, dated August 20, 2018, the Legislature did authorize an agreement with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Citizens relating to Opioid Surveillance Toxicology testing; and,
WHEREAS, the Medical Examiner's Office has a continuing need for contractual services of outside forensic pathologists to provide coverage for the remainder of 2019; and,
WHEREAS, the 2019 budgeted monies for contractual services have been depleted due to the need to fund this coverage; and,
WHEREAS, in order to support the next few months of the contractual services, the funds collected from opioid and violent death tracking, opioid surveillance toxicology testing, and forensic services provided to the State of Missouri will need to be used; and,
WHEREAS, additional funds are also required for the repair of an office vehicle and to pay the Chief Medical Examiner's contractually specified automobile allowance; and,
