INTRODUCED BY Rhonda Shoemaker and Bob Spence, County Legislators


Body
WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes and commends the meritorious accomplishments of the Blue Springs Post 499 Auxiliary A's baseball team during the 2003 season; and,

WHEREAS, under the leadership of coaches Mike Rooney, Tom Bush, Jack Gillis, Thad Pealer and trainer, Phil Caldarella, the Auxiliary A's took first place in seven tournaments during the 2003 season including State, Mid South Regional, Sedalia Pre-Season, Wood Bat, 5th District and 5th District League, Zone 2 and took 3rd in the Springfield Holiday Tournament; and,

WHEREAS, over 5400 American Legion teams compete during the season and only eight qualify for the World Series Tournament. The Auxiliary A's placed 5th in the World Series Tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and,

WHEREAS, Coach Rooney said, "I know it's a season I'll never forget. We won a lot of games and set some team records, but the things I'll remember about this season are the people we met along the way and how a team that started out 9-7 came together and played and won as a team:" and,

WHEREAS, the Auxiliary A's broke several team and individual records which include; most runs, most hits, most singles, most doubles, most home runs, most RBI's, most hits by a pitch, most saves, most strikeouts, most individual home runs and best winning percentage; and,

WHEREAS, the A's finished the season with an overall record of 61-14, with a winning streak of 30 games; and,

WHEREAS, team members Chris Benham, Kellen Brown, Stevie Bush, Tyler Cooper, Travis Crutcher, Brad Davidson, Drew DePeralta, Scooter Hendrickson, Kris Johnson, Ben Malick, Danny Malone, Scott Phillips, Jason Russell...
