Body
WHEREAS, Mr. Gary Neal Johnson has had a very accomplished career in the arts, namely theatre spanning across many decades, he has graced the stage of many theatres in the region making his mark on being a sought-after actor; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson, on his many accomplishments as an actor, his most credible role was playing the character Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, at the KCREP Theatre for the last 25 years; and,
WHEREAS, each holiday season audiences gather to watch his performance of Scrooge and has admired Mr. Johnson and his portrayal of the famed character in which he has portrayed since 2000, by many estimations his portrayal could be the longest continuous run of a character played by a single actor in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, in honoring tradition and ritual it would only be fitting to acknowledge Mr. Johnson and his accomplishments of his portrayal of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and recognize his final bow of playing this character at the KCREP; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature formally recognizes Gary Neal Johnson and his accomplishments in theatre and the traditions that he has brought to the Jackson County community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
