A RESOLUTION recognizing Muna Lee on her accomplishments as a student athlete, and recognizing the Muna Lee Foundation, which will kick off the weekend of October 30, 2009.

Body
WHEREAS, Muna Lee is a 2000 graduate of Central High School, and is the most accomplished student athlete in the history of the Interscholastic League in the Kansas City, Missouri School District; and,
WHEREAS, in high school, Lee was a standout in track and field, winning a record twelve state championships, including ten individually; and,
WHEREAS, Lee graduated from Central High School with a 3.4 GPA, and pursued her college degree in fashion design at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA; and,
WHEREAS, while attending LSU, Lee became the most accomplished student athlete for the Tigers in track and field, winning seven National Championships, twelve SEC Championships, and becoming a 20-time All American at Louisiana State University; and,
WHEREAS, Lee still holds the current record for most individual national championships for women at LSU with seven; and,
WHEREAS, while attending LSU, Lee qualified to run in both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games; and,
WHEREAS, the weekend of October 30, 2009, will kick off the Muna Lee Foundation, the basis of which is to provide annual scholarships to graduating seniors; and,
WHEREAS, the Foundation will also help provide underprivileged children with the opportunity to participate in track and field and help offset the costs of running shoes and track spikes; and,
WHEREAS, the Foundation will allow many youths to see, meet, and learn from the pros, and has an ultimate goal of creating a track facility for inner city youths; and,
WHEREAS, Muna Lee will be inducted into the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall...
