A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with Wayside Waifs, Inc., in furtherance of the County's services for the care and disposition of lost and unclaimed animals brought for impoundment by persons residing in the unincorporated areas of Jackson County, at an actual cost to the County not to exceed $10,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the County provides a comprehensive animal control program within unincorporated Jackson County, through a combination of County in-house resources and contractual arrangements; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to the County's program, many lost and unclaimed animals from within the unincorporated county are impounded at not-for-profit animal shelters, one of the largest of which is Wayside Waifs, Inc; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that the County support the Wayside Waifs' program, at an actual cost to the County not to exceed $10,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the attached agreement has been recommended for use by the Department of Public Works and County staff working in the animal control program; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Agreement with Wayside Waifs, Inc; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
