Body
WHEREAS, Irene M. Wrabec, of Sugar Creek, Missouri, passed away May 25, 2011, at the age of 86; and,

WHEREAS, Irene retired in 1981 after 38 years of service to the U. S. Postal Service as superintendent of the Mail Classification Center in Kansas City; and,

WHEREAS, during Irene's service with the post office she was commended for courageously saving the postage and mail at the Sugar Creek Post Office from loss in a fire and she was recognized for her efforts to promote the use of the zip code, earning her the nickname "Miss Zip"; and,

WHEREAS, as a leader with the Postal Service, Irene pioneered the fight against sexual harassment and job discrimination in the workplace and she authored sixty-five suggestions that went on to become federal law within the Post Office Service Manual, earning her recognition for Superior and Unusual Achievement from the Postmaster General; and,

WHEREAS, in 1978, Irene worked with her son Paul to form the Paul J. Wrabec Company, where she worked as Chairman of the Board until her death; and,

WHEREAS, Irene also worked on the development of the VinoGrad Vineyard and Winery; and,

WHEREAS, she was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church, a charter member of the Croatian Catholic Union in Sugar Creek, a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union, and a proud Democrat; and,

WHEREAS, Irene was cherished dearly by her loved ones who passed before her and her surviving family, including her son Paul, her grandchildren Danielle, Cyril, J.D., and Josko Wrabec, and Ezra, the Vineyard Dog, who remained loyally by her side; now therefore,
