RESOLUTION NO. 22066, October 6, 2025

INTRODUCED BY Manuel Abarca IV, County Legislators

Body
WHEREAS, Vania Soto is a Kansas City-based artist, muralist, and instructor whose vibrant, culturally rich works celebrate her Mexican heritage and inspire pride, resilience, and connection; and,

WHEREAS, her art spans a wide variety of mediums, including large-scale public murals, oil paintings, and commissioned portraits, each piece reflecting bold colors and storytelling rooted in the themes of community and cultural identity; and,

WHEREAS, Vania's work has become an integral part of Kansas City's artistic landscape, uplifting neighborhoods and public spaces while creating dialogue around diversity and heritage; and,

WHEREAS, she was recognized as Best Artist in Kansas City by The Pitch Magazine in 2021, underscoring her talent and her impact as a leader in the city's creative community; and,



WHEREAS, we honor and commend Vania Soto for her artistic excellence, her contributions to public art and culture, and her role in celebrating and preserving Latino heritage through the power of visual storytelling; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature does hereby honor Vania Soto the artist.

Effective Date: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
