Body
WHEREAS, section 115.395, RSMo., grants to local election authorities the ability to establish a system of candidate filing for county office whereunder the ballot order of candidates who file for office on the first day of filing is established by a random drawing; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature believes that such a system would be more fair and orderly than the system currently in place for filing for county office whereunder some candidates may have an advantage over others in gaining access to the second floor of the Kansas City Courthouse where the filing takes place; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby directs the Clerk of the County Legislature to establish a system of candidate filing for County office whereunder the ballot order of candidates who file for office on the first day of filing is established by random drawing, as is authorized by section 115.395 (2), RSMo.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
