Body
WHEREAS, former County employees Lisa N. Gentleman and Arthur A. Hogg have made claims against the County and County officials for damages alleged to have been suffered due to discrimination based on age and/or disability and/or retaliation due to the exercise of rights secured by the Missouri Workers' Compensation law; and,

WHEREAS, after thorough investigation, research, and review of these claims, and in view of the high cost of litigating these claims, the County Counselor and special employment counsel recommend that they be settled for the payment by the County of the total sum of $200,000.00, in exchange for the full and complete release of all claims; and,

WHEREAS, the recommended settlement is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the settlement of the claims of Lisa N. Gentleman and Arthur A. Hogg, as recommended by the County Counselor, be and hereby is approved; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to issue a check or checks totaling $200,000.00 to Lisa N. Gentleman, Arthur A. Hogg, and/or attorneys Holman & Schiavone, pursuant to the specific direction of the County Counselor.
