Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County 4-H Fair was established in 1930, making this its 80th anniversary; and,
WHEREAS, the University of Missouri Extension's 4-H educational program empowers young people ages 5 to 18 to reach their full potential while working and learning in partnership with caring adults; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County 4-H educational programs have provided valuable learning and service opportunities for youths for over ninety-five years; and,
WHEREAS, the 4-H program and the County Fair offer the opportunity for youths to demonstrate their talents, skills, and knowledge and to showcase their project work; and,
WHEREAS, the County Fair is an opportunity for youths to participate in competition to demonstrate mastery of skills gained, receive feedback, and celebrate personal achievements; and,
WHEREAS, the 4-H program and the County Fair provide opportunities for 4-H families to grow and develop life skills, while supporting and encouraging each other; and,
WHEREAS, the County Fair exemplifies community, citizenry, a positive spirit, and local cultural diversity, representing many walks of life in Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, this year's County Fair theme is "Back in Time" and will be held July 14 through July 17, 2010, at Drumm Farm in Independence, MO; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the 80th anniversary of the Jackson County 4-H Fair and extends best wishes to the University of Missouri Extension 4-H program for a successful event.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
