Body
WHEREAS, Jackson County is joining the City of Kansas City and other cities in the nation in celebrating Earth Day on April 22 by promoting "Clean Out Your Files Day;" and,
WHEREAS, this special day is being set aside to create awareness of existing waste reduction and recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, workers are encouraged to dress down for this event in order to dig through and clean out file cabinets and desks; and,
WHEREAS, it is hoped that these waste reduction efforts will stimulate workers' interest in recycling as a conservation measure; and,
WHEREAS, a program was conducted at the Kansas City Zoo on April 19 to kick off this special event; and,
WHEREAS, "Clean Out Your Files Day" is being organized by Bridging The Gap as a fund raiser for the Environmental Excellence Campaign; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature declares Tuesday, April 22, 1997, as Earth Day in Jackson County, Missouri, and encourages Jackson County employees to participate in "Clean Out Your Files Day."

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
