WHEREAS, Fred Arbanas, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1961 to 1970, has been selected for induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1997; and,
WHEREAS, while playing for the Chiefs, previously known as the Dallas Texans, Fred was honored as a six-time AFL All-Star; and,
WHEREAS, in 1970, Fred was a member of the Chiefs at Super Bowl IV in New Orleans, when the Chiefs defeated the Minnesota Vikings 25 to 7; and,
WHEREAS, Fred has served on the Jackson County Legislature since 1973, and has earned distinction for his personal commitment to the welfare of the County's citizens; and,
WHEREAS, Fred also owns his own company, Fred Arbanas, Inc., a national advertising agency for the Yellow Pages; and,
WHEREAS, the induction ceremony will be held on January 19th at the University Plaza Hotel in Springfield, and a reception will follow at the Hall of Fame in honor of Fred and other inductees; and,
WHEREAS, Fred is to be commended for receiving such a prestigious award in honor of his nine outstanding years with the Chiefs and Texans; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Fred Arbanas upon his induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
