Body

WHEREAS, Ben Murrell is a Senior at Lee's Summit High School with an exceptional record of achievement in academics; and,

WHEREAS, Ben is the son of Jeff and Susie Murrell, grandson of Dale and Carol Murrell, and David and Nola Cannon, and the late Don Topping, and the brother of Nick and Luke Murrell; and,

WHEREAS, Ben is a member of the National Honor Society and is in the top one percent of his graduating class; and,

WHEREAS, Ben was selected for the 2005 Missouri Scholars 100 by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals which recognizes academic excellence and meritorious citizenship and participation by the top one hundred 2005 candidates for graduation; and,

WHEREAS, in order to qualify for Missouri Scholars 100, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.750, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1300 as well as excellence in attendance, and exemplary involvement in school programs; and,

WHEREAS, Ben plans to attend the University of Missouri-Rolla and has received the Curator's Scholarship, an Alumni Endowment Scholarship, a Chemistry Department Scholarship, a University of Missouri-Rolla Excellence Scholarship, and the Bright Flight Scholarship; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to excelling in academics, Ben also plays trombone for the Lee's Summit Golden Tiger Marching Band, is a member of the Lee's Summit High School Math Club, and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Ben Murrell on his outstanding accomplishments in academics and on being selected as one of the 2005 Missouri Scholars ...
