A RESOLUTION supporting the efforts of the City of Kansas City's Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority and Tax Increment Financing Commission in conjunction with UGA, L.L.C., redeveloper of the Uptown Theater, to encourage the Missouri Development Finance Board to approve the city's request to enhance TIFC bonds for the Uptown Theater Redevelopment Project.

Body
WHEREAS, UGA, L.L.C. has purchased the Uptown Theater and has invested much time, energy, and capital into rebuilding the historic theater and office building; and,
WHEREAS, Kansas City has approved the use of TIFC bonds to help renovate the theater and surrounding area; and,
WHEREAS, Kansas City's midtown area is enjoying a renaissance with development projects including Missouri Gas Energy, Twentieth Century Investors, Missouri Housing Development Commission, and the Midtown Marketplace; and,
WHEREAS, the Uptown Theater creates a link with Kansas City's past and deserves to be restored to its previous status as a premier entertainment destination; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature urges the Missouri Development Finance Board to approve the request by Kansas City's Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority to authorize the issuance of $8,500,000 in TIF bonds to finance the redevelopment of the Uptown Theater in midtown Kansas City that will heal revitalize an area of Kansas City in Jackson County that deserves our support.
