Body
WHEREAS, Rebecca Craig, a Blue Springs High School Class of 2002 graduate was named by The Kansas City Star as her school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2002; and,
WHEREAS, Rebecca ranked 18th in her class of 448. She had a 4.1 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; and,
WHEREAS, she was all-conference honorable mention in basketball as a sophomore, all-state honorable mention in cross country (junior year), all-conference and all-district in long jump (freshman and sophomore year); and,
WHEREAS, she was all-state honorable mention in 200 and 400 freestyle relays in swimming during her junior year; and,
WHEREAS, Rebecca was student body president her senior year and president of her junior class; and,
WHEREAS, she was actively involved in Student Senate, School Chamber Acappella Choir, CATS and Hi/Step, an elementary level mentoring program; and,
WHEREAS, she also organized the school's Adopt-a-Family program, and through Student Senate she answered Dear Santa letters; and,
WHEREAS, additionally, she has volunteered at 4th and 5th grade Boy Scout camps, was on the YMCA Youth Advisory Council, and helped out at Blue Springs Youth Basketball Tournaments; and,
WHEREAS, Rebecca is the daughter of Bob and Susie Craig of Blue Springs; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Rebecca Craig upon being named among The Kansas City Star's Scholar-Athletes of the Year for 2002.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
