Body
WHEREAS, this year our nation commemorates the Fiftieth Anniversary of victory in World War II; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, located in Jackson County, Missouri, has been designated by the United States Department of Defense as an official site for the observance of the fiftieth anniversary of victory in Europe; and,

WHEREAS, victory in Europe and the ultimate triumph of the United States and her allies over the Axis powers was achieved through unparalleled contributions on the homefront, among which contributors was the American railroad industry; and,

WHEREAS, the Burlington Northern Railroad Company, as the successor of a group of railroads which made victory in Europe possible, remembers and recognizes this achievement; and,

WHEREAS, the National Archives and Records Administration, a cultural agency and keeper of our nation's memory, through its Central Plains Region, has planned and developed a tribute to the veterans of World War II on this fiftieth anniversary of V-E Day; and,

WHEREAS, the Burlington Northern Railroad Company has supported this effort and program by joining with the National Archives-Central Plains Region to recognize, remember and recreate on this fiftieth anniversary for the City of Lenexa in Johnson County, Kansas, the City of Kansas City
in Jackson County, Missouri, and for the citizens of the United States, a commemorative troop train
to honor those veterans who were transported with their equipment on American railroads in service to their country in defense of freedom and in furtherance of the liberation of Europe, Africa and Asia...
