Body
WHEREAS, McKenzie Morales, a student at Raytown South Middle School, has been named as one of nine Scholastic READ 180 All Stars in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, READ 180 is a reading intervention program that offers intensive and individualized reading instruction for students in grades 4 through 12 who are reading below proficient level; and,
WHEREAS, Scholastic, the global children's publishing, education, and media company, created the READ 180 All Stars program to honor students who have overcome numerous obstacles that prevented them from reading and achieving academic success; and,
WHEREAS, McKenzie Morales began 7th grade reading on a low elementary school level and has tirelessly worked to elevate her reading status to her current level as an 8th grade student reading at an 8th grade level; and,
WHEREAS, as a READ 180 All Star, McKenzie will receive a scholarship from Scholastic and is well on her way to achieving academic success; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes McKenzie Morales as a Scholastic READ 180 All Star, and extends sincere congratulations for her remarkable success in positioning herself for a brighter future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
