Body
WHEREAS, Bob Smith, the president of Raytown Parks Board, received the Missouri Parks and Recreation Association's Citation Award for 2008 on February 27, 2008, at the Lodge of the Four Seasons; and,
WHEREAS, this award is presented to a maximum of six candidates statewide who have made outstanding contributions to recreation and the parks in the state of Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, during Bob's time as president, the Raytown Parks and Recreation Department has secured revenue bonds totaling more than $1.4 million to support the Super Splash USA water park, and has received eight grants totaling more than $1.6 million for renovations and upgrades to city parks; and,
WHEREAS, Bob has been with the Raytown Parks and Recreation Department since 1990, and has served as president since 1995; and,
WHEREAS, along with his involvement in the Raytown Parks Board, Bob is also involved with Raytown Citizens Crime Watch, Raytown's "Reaching for Tomorrow," and "Friends of the Park"; and,
WHEREAS, Bob's wife, Gladys, celebrates this award with Bob, along with their three children and seven grandchildren; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates Bob Smith on his receipt of the Missouri Parks and Recreation Association's Citation Award for 2008.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
