Body
WHEREAS, the County provides a comprehensive animal control program within unincorporated Jackson County, through a combination of County in-house resources and contractual arrangements; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to the County's program, many lost and unclaimed animals from within the unincorporated county are impounded at not-for-profit animal shelters, one of the largest of which is Wayside Waifs, Inc; and,

WHEREAS, Wayside Waifs has presented a proposal to the County, a copy of which is attached hereto, for building a collaboration of area animal care and animal control organizations focusing on reduction of euthanasia of adoptable animals and increasing the kennel space available to municipal animal control facilities; and,


WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that the County support the collaboration initiative proposed by Wayside Waifs, at an actual cost to the County not to exceed $120,195.00; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute a cooperative agreement with Wayside Waifs, Inc., in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
