Body
WHEREAS, Rev. Ivy A. Ganaway, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, graduated from Vashon High School, attended Stowe Teachers' College, and graduated from DePaul School of Nursing; and,
WHEREAS, Rev. Ganaway attended the Nash Prayer Band Mission under the late Rev. Mother Laura Lee Nash in St. Louis, and later moved to Kansas City to work as a staff nurse and head nurse for the Veterans Administration Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, she joined Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ where she has been actively involved, serving as pastor of Children's Church; and,
WHEREAS, she has also served on the church's ministerial staff and as the women's department district supervisor; and,
WHEREAS, she has worked for Swope Parkway Health Center since 1985; and,
WHEREAS, Rev. Ganaway has devoted countless hours to the community by serving on the Community Health/Infant Mortality Project Advisory Committee, Healthy Start Infant and Child Health Committee, and the Division of Family Services Medical Standards and Child Health Committees; and,
WHEREAS, she has also served on boards and committees including Maternal and Child Health Coalition of Greater Kansas City, Partnership for Children, Sickle Cell Coalition, and Teen Moms Advisory Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Rev. Ganaway and her husband, Lucky, have four wonderful sons, Lois Lee Ganaway, Jr., Dwight Earl Ganaway, Charles Arthur Ganaway, and Nathan Raymond Ganaway; and,
WHEREAS, Rev. Ganaway's contributions to the Christian community are far reaching, her medical extension has enhanced our health care efforts, and her parenting has positively influenced her children; and,
