Body
WHEREAS, on February 14, 1920, the League of Women Voters was founded in Chicago, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, through the last 75 years, the League has been active in supporting and adopting positions on various movements and campaigning for legislative changes; and,
WHEREAS, as a nonpartisan political membership organization, the League acts to achieve solutions in the public interest on key community issues at all government levels, builds citizen participation in the democratic process, and engages communities in promoting positive solutions to public policy issues through education and advocacy; and,
WHEREAS, the League believes in respect for individuals, the value of diversity, the empowerment of the grassroots, both within the League and in communities, and the power of collective decision making for the common good; and,
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the League to always act with trust, integrity and professionalism, operate in an open and effective manner to meet the needs of those it serves, both members and the public, take the initiative in seeking diversity in membership, and acknowledge its heritage as it seeks its path to the future; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the League of Women Voters on its 75th Anniversary.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
