WHEREAS, effective enforcement of the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA), Sections 589.400 to 589.425, RSMo, is an important public safety concern for all citizens of Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Jackson County Legislature are agreed that sex offender registration should be conducted expeditiously and efficiently for the public safety; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Jackson County that the process of registering sex offenders within Jackson County be conducted pursuant to the guidelines set forth in the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA), Sections 589.400 to 589.425, RSMo; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Jackson County Sheriff's Office be and hereby is requested to prepare a quarterly report to the Legislature detailing those activities the members of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and its consultant have accomplished toward registration of sex offenders in Jackson County according to the procedures set forth in the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA), Sections 589.400 to 589.425, RSMo.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
