Body
WHEREAS, Martin A. Pacheco, Boy Scout Troop 106, was awarded the highest advancement rank of Eagle Scout on March 22, 2009, at Guadalupe Centers, Inc; and,
WHEREAS, Martin is a Member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, was a staff member at the Fall Camporee in 2008, holds the level of a purple belt in the Kwanzaa School of Tae Kwon Do, and upon turning 18 has begun training as an adult leader with Troop 106; and,
WHEREAS, Martin, an 18-year-old senior at Bishop Miege High School, was a member of the Freshman wrestling team and has completed more than eighty hours of community service, including service in the areas of community, religion and service to the disadvantaged; and,
WHEREAS, Martin's Eagle project was a direct enhancement to a community rain garden/butterfly garden, and he has volunteered for the past two years for the back to school pep rally for disadvantaged students hosted by the local community center; and,
WHEREAS, Martin has also served the community by volunteering his time and energy to the Sacred Heart Guadalupe Parish, including working the parish fiesta for the past five years and assisting with several church renovation projects; and,
WHEREAS, Martin is the son of Felix and Sally Pacheco, and is the first young man on either side of the family to complete and earn the rank of Eagle Scout; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Martin A. Pacheco on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and wishes him great success in his future endeavors.
