Body
WHEREAS, the County has recognized a need to address the teen pregnancy problem in the Kansas City metropolitan area; and,
WHEREAS, there is an established nexus between teen pregnancy and drug abuse; and,
WHEREAS, Truman Medical Center's StartRight Teen MOMs Program is designed to address this problem by providing mentoring for pregnant and parenting teenage girls and their families; and,
WHEREAS, this program is supported by a grant from the United States Department of Health and Human Services in the amount of $350,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has recommended Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds in the amount of $72,217.00 to provide a portion of a required local match to this grant; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute a Cooperative Agreement, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, for Truman Medical Center's StartRight Teen MOMs Program, at a cost to the County not to exceed $72,217.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
