Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Legislature is saddened by the loss of Ruth Delores Hill, a beloved former employee of the Jackson County Legislative staff, who passed away on March 18, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, Ruth was the eldest child born to Ms. Sadie Norris and Dr. Edward Fisher; and,
WHEREAS, she attended and graduated from Manuel High School in 1958; and,
WHEREAS, Ruth met and fell in love with Lawrence Edward Hill in 1968, and they were married for 20 years; and,
WHEREAS, in 1971, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Latonya Rushell Hill into the world; and,
WHEREAS, Ruth had many careers throughout her life, including working as a nurse's aide and at Western Electric; and,
WHEREAS, Ruth served in various departments in the Jackson County Courthouse -Accounting and Finance, Legislative aide, Assistant CRO, Prosecutors Department, Collections, and County Counselors; and,
WHEREAS, it was in 2011 that Ruth retired from the Jackson County Courthouse after serving for over 25 years in the Jackson County Legislative office and varies departments; and,
WHEREAS, she was a spiritual and faithful member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, where, in 2011, she had the honor of serving on the Board of Trustees; and,
WHEREAS, Ruth had the joy of helping other people in her community; and,
WHEREAS, she was known for looking flawless, always having her hair and nails done, along with her beautiful clothing choices; and,
WHEREAS, Ruth, they say, was a diva since birth, when asked about her age, she would always say, "39 and holding"; and,
WHEREAS, Ruth leaves behind a daughter, her son-in-law, a granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews to shine in her legacy; now therefore,
