Body
WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the countless contributions of the Latino community to the cultural, artistic, and civic life of the United States, and to honor the traditions that continue to inspire and unite people of all backgrounds; and,

WHEREAS, folklorico dancers, artists, and musicians in the Kansas City area play an essential role in preserving and promoting the vibrant traditions of Mexico and Latin American, passing down these cultural treasures from generation to generation; and

WHEREAS, folklorico dance, with its colorful costumes and intricate footwork, embeds the stories, struggles, and joys of Latino communities, while artists and musicians celebrate and reflect these same stories through painting, sculpture, music, and performance; and,

WHEREAS, organizations such as the Mattie Rhodes Center, Guadalupe Centers, and the Latino Arts Foundation have been at the forefront of championing Latino arts and culture, offering spots for creative expression, education, and cultural preservation for both youth and adults across Kansas City; and,

WHEREAS, they have made significant impacts by supporting emerging Latino artists, writers, and musicians through mentorship, scholarships, and creative opportunities, empowering them to share their unique voices and stories; and,

WHEREAS, these artists and organizations not only preserve cultural heritage but also enhance the social, educational, and artistic vitality of our community, reminding us of the importance of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of public life; and,
