INTRODUCED BY Terry Young, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, the County solicited written proposals for group dental insurance for County employees for the 2000 contract year; and,

WHEREAS, Protective (formerly United Dental Care) was awarded the contract for group dental insurance for 2000 and a one-year extension in 2001 with second and third year rate guarantees; and,

WHEREAS, Protective DHMO has maintained low cost to employees and the County for many years and has proposed a minimal rate increase for 2002 on individual and couple plans, with a decrease in rates for the family plan; and,

WHEREAS, Protective's Indemnity Plan has no rate cap in the third year and Protective has no proposed rate increase for 2002; and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources and the County's dental broker recommend:

therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Protective Dental Care for employee group dental insurance coverage.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
