Body
WHEREAS, the FIRST Robotics Competition Championship is a celebration of science and technology for high school students worldwide; and,
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit High School Robotics Team Driven, led by their coach Jim Nazworthy, has qualified for the World Championships for the fourth time in their five-year history; and,
WHEREAS, Team Driven received the Engineering Inspiration Award at the Greater Kansas City Regional Competition; and,
WHEREAS, after going 8-1-1 in the qualification rounds, the 29 members of Team Driven earned 259 seeding points to be ranked 11th in the Archimedes division out of 86 teams; and,
WHEREAS, involvement in the Robotics Team has inspired many students to pursue science and technology related careers and helped them to develop relationships with business leaders; and,
WHEREAS, students' participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition has highlighted the rich technical and industrial resources we have in our community; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit High School Team Driven on their prestigious showing and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
