Body
WHEREAS, St. Stephen's, located at 10th and Bennington in Kansas City, recently played against St. Gabriel's of Kansas City North at St. Teresa's Academy in the Kansas City Parochial League, Bishop Helmsing Division, seventh grade championship game; and,
WHEREAS, St. Stephen's began play with only five players, while St. Gabriel's had a full complement of ten; and,
WHEREAS, even though, due to fouls, St. Stephen's had only three players on the floor at the end of regulation play, the teams were tied, necessitating a two-minute overtime period; and,
WHEREAS, during the overtime, a third St. Stephen's girl fouled out, leaving the team with only two players; and,
WHEREAS, St. Stephen's still won the game with a final score of 40-38; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Stephen's players participating in the championship game were Katie Blanton, Vicky Tapia, Alicia Soliz, Sarah Clark, and Evelyn Gonzalez; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Jim Aycock led this outstanding group of young girls to their regular season and championship victory; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature congratulates the St. Stephen's seventh grade girls basketball team on their outstanding victory...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
