WHEREAS, the Missouri Press Association presented a first place Better Newspaper Award for coverage of government to Northeast News publisher Christine Adams, editor Tracy Abeln, and publisher Michael Bushnell; and,
WHEREAS, Northeast News is a bilingual newspaper of the Historic Northeast area of Kansas City, providing news and information to a diverse population;
WHEREAS, the award is a peer award recognizing an October 2005 story regarding violent crime in Kansas City; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes The Northeast News, Tracy Abeln, Christine Adams, and Michael Bushnell for their excellence in journalism and for their contributions to the diverse population of the Historic Northeast community.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
