Body
WHEREAS, Andrew Hansen, a Junior at Lee's Summit West High School, is one of eighty students chosen from around the world to spend three weeks studying in the prestigious summer school program at St. Hugh's College at the Oxford University in England; and,
WHEREAS, to be selected for this program, students sent in an application, wrote an essay and had to receive a recommendation from a teacher; and,
WHEREAS, the students will attend various lectures by Oxford professors, complete strict course work, write several research papers and have weekly tutorial sessions covering a specific academic discipline; and,
WHEREAS, Andrew is planning to study Biblical history this summer while attending St. Hugh's College; and,
WHEREAS, Andrew studied Philosophy and History at Queen's College at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England in 2007; and,
WHEREAS, Andrew is involved at Lee's Summit West as the President-elect of the Freshman Mentor Program, the Vice President of the Lee's Summit West Concert Choir, has held supporting roles in school plays, and placed nationally in the Math and Logic competition and the Science Olympiad competition; and,
WHEREAS, Andrew is the son of proud parents, Marc and Jo; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates Andrew Hansen on his acceptance into the prestigious summer school program at St. Hugh's College.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
