Body
WHEREAS, the members of the Legislature have been deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of former Jackson County Legislator Bill R. Williams; and,

WHEREAS, Bill was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri, having attended St. Elizabeth Grade School and graduated from Rockhurst High School and the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he served as president of the student council; and,

WHEREAS, he received his law degree from UMKC School of Law and practiced law in the Kansas City area for 28 years; and,

WHEREAS, Bill was elected to the Legislature in 1983 and served until 1986, including a stint as vice-chairman in 1983; and,

WHEREAS, he also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Little Blue Valley Sewer District; and,

WHEREAS, he was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend; and,

WHEREAS, Bill was preceded in death by his father, O. B. Williams, and is survived by his son Austin, twin daughters Michelle and Melissa, his mother Dorothy Jeanne Williams, his stepchildren Steven Brown and Stephanie McCarthy, siblings former County Counselor John B. Williams and wife Molly, Mary Jeanne Byrd and husband Mike, Darlene Piane and husband Sonny, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and,

WHEREAS, Bill will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest sympathy to family and friends of Bill R. Williams, upon the occasion of his untimely death.
