Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners has advised that, on August 19, 2010, two large HVAC units were stolen from the exterior of its storage facility in north Independence that provides climate-controlled storage space for the board's computerized and other voting machines and equipment; and,
WHEREAS, the Board contacted U.S. Engineering of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO, and received a quote of $12,600.00 on the emergency replacement and relocation of the HVAC units to the roof of the structure to limit future opportunities for theft; and,
WHEREAS, the use of the contingency fund is appropriate for this purchase due to the unforeseen nature of this emergency; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to place the necessary funds in the appropriate spending account; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said transfer; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer be and hereby is made:
