Body
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams has had a multifaceted career in the areas of education, leadership, media and consulting; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams was the first African American superintendent of the Hickman Mills School District and held the longest tenure as superintendent in an urban setting in Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams founded the Marste Group, LLC, a consulting firm that specializes in providing training, development, management, education, planning, and mentoring services serving school districts across the United States; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams has received numerous awards for her work, most prominently she was the recipient of the Carl R. Johnson Humanitarian Award at the 51st Annual Freedom Fund Banquet of the NAACP- Kansas City Branch; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature hereby honors Dr. Marjorie Williams for her trailblazing contributions to education, community, and civic engagement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
