Body
WHEREAS, on February 22, 2000, 6-year-old Jake Robel's life ended as a result of a carjacking; and,
 
WHEREAS, leading up to this crime, Ina Lopez and her two children, Caleb Trecazzi, 11, and Joshua E. Cramer, 14, were traveling south on M-291 when they observed a child being dragged by a Blazer; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Lopez family followed the vehicle to the Noland Road exit on I-70 where they noticed other citizens helping to detain the carjacker at a nearby intersection until the police arrived; and,
 
WHEREAS, members of the Lopez family covered Jake at the scene with a blanket; therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Ina Lopez and her children for being concerned citizens and for their unselfish and heroic action in coming to the aid of Jake Robel.
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
