A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Legislature to Derek Smith and other family members and friends of Leyman Terrell Colbert, upon the occasion of his untimely death.

RESOLUTION #11906, October 6, 1997

Body
WHEREAS, it was with great sorrow to family and friends to learn of the death of Leyman Terrell Colbert; and,

WHEREAS, Leyman was born November 3, 1979, to Gregory Colbert and Quinetta Johnson Coleman; and,

WHEREAS, at the time of his death, Leyman was a senior at DeLaSalle High School where his favorite classes included print shop and woodwork; and,

WHEREAS, he was a typical teenager who loved the sorts of things most teenagers love -- music and cars; and,

WHEREAS, Leyman is survived by his brother, Derek Smith, previously an intern for Carl Bussey, County Legislator for the 2nd District, and now a first year student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law; and,

WHEREAS, Leyman is also survived by his mother, Quinetta Coleman, and four other brothers, Daman, Martez, Michael, and Eric; and,

WHEREAS, Leyman will be missed by those who knew and loved him; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest sympathy to Derek Smith and other family members and friends upon the untimely death of Leyman Terrell Colbert.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
