Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, renewed their sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,

WHEREAS, the voters and the Legislature authorized the COMBAT Commission to contract with any organization or entity, whether public or private, which engages in anti-drug treatment and rehabilitation activities, for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug users; and,

WHEREAS, the COMBAT Commission, with the assistance of the Prosecuting Attorney and independent consultants, reviewed proposals submitted by various organizations and considered staff review and comments thereon; and,


WHEREAS, the organizations listed on the document attached hereto as Exhibit A all engage in drug treatment and rehabilitation activities, and are otherwise qualified to contract with the County for the expenditure of anti-drug sales tax funds; and,

WHEREAS, the COMBAT Commission desires to further assist these organizations in the provision of services and has recommended the expenditure of anti-drug sales tax funds for these organizations, in the respective amounts set forth on Exhibit A, to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders; now ...
